What: "Gold is like a pancreas: Few people seem to know what it does, yet it's indispensible to a properly functioning system. So just imagine that your doctor told you your pancreas could not be examined." The analogy needs to be explained. The pancreas regulates glucose levels my releasing insulin into the blood stream. I guess the link is that gold helps regulate currency values by providing a constant when there are great shift in the currency market. Another analogy is that the price of gold is like a glucose meter. The gold price will help you quantitate something very important, the value of a currency as a glucose meter quantitates something that is important for health; the level of glucose in the blood stream.
