60's Dry Procedural

What: They both attempt to characterize real life for this period of time. Mad Men portrays an Ad agency in the early 1960s. Dragnet portrays the life of 2 LAPD detectives in the early to mid 60s. The fans of each show seem to identify strongly with both lead characters. The 2 leads, Don Draper and Joe Friday may also have some overlap.They both have the same style,sparse slow moving and masculine. Although little, if anything, is revealed about Joe Friday's personal life.
